Obama’s Half Brother Arrested

BARACK OBAMA’S HALF-BROTHER ARRESTED FOR POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA
The half-brother of President Barack Obama was arrested for alleged possession of marijuana on Saturday near his home in a Nairobi shantytown, police said.

George Obama, who is in his 20s and barely knows the president, had one joint of marijuana on him, said Joshua Omokulongolo, the police chief in the area.

“He is not a drug peddler,” Omokulongolo told The Associated Press. “But it’s illegal, it’s a banned substance.”

George Obama has a court appearance scheduled Monday morning.

He and the president have the same father, who died in a car crash in 1982.

The White House declined comment Saturday on the president’s half-brother.

Several of President Obama’s Kenyan relatives went to Washington, D.C., for his inauguration, but George was not among them. He lives in Huruma with extended family.

Media reports about him surfaced over the summer, after a magazine article said he lived in a shack and earned a dollar a day. George Obama has called the reports insulting.

“I’m proud of how I live,” he told The Associated Press in an interview over the summer. “(The media) are tarnishing the family name.”

He also said he was studying to be a mechanic and works with a local youth group in Huruma.

In President Obama’s book “Dreams From My Father,” he describes George Obama as “a handsome, roundheaded boy with a wary gaze.”

George is the youngest of the senior Obama’s seven children, born six months before his father died.

Case: Obama’s brother had one joint and was arrested? Athough having a joint is illegal, in this case, the arrest was made to embarrass President Obama. However, thank the lord it wasn’t President Obama who was arrested for possession of marijuana. Therre arr people waiting for him to fail. He’s too smart to fail.

President Obama And Governor Palin Will Do Dinner

Kris Alingod – AHN Contributor
Washington, D.C. (AHN) – Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, the first Republican woman vice presidential candidate, will be dining with President Barack Obama over the weekend in Washington, D.C. when the Alfalfa Club holds it customary black-tie banquet.

“The Alfalfa dinner, yes, in fact that’s because President Obama is scheduled to be there,” the 44-year old governor is quoted by ABC as saying on Wednesday. “And how often will I have an opportunity to have dinner with the president?”

The Alfalfa Club is an elite group founded in1913 for the sole purpose of holding a banquet on the last Saturday of January of every year. It has about 200 members and holds a presidential nomination every banquet just for entertainment. Past “candidates” have included Ronald Reagan and former President George W. Bush.

Middle Class Disaster Task Force Created

Case: Shame on the Republicans for not voting for the Obama Stimulus package for working people many of whom vote Republican. Shame on the republicans for not trying to work with the Obama Administration to bring about change and save the jobs of the American people and the economy. The situation is very bad and the republicans are letting down the American people. America can not have a strong economy without a strong workforce. Republicans: Think about that.

When Women Gain Weight They Are Dogged

Jessica Simpson has gone from a six 2 to a size 8 and now she’s considered fat? Give me a break Hollywood has unrealistic views about the bodies of women and many women have risked their lives undergoing life threatening surgeries to fit the Hollywood image of what a women’s body should be. It isn’t a woman’s body Hollywood should be concerned about. It should be the abilities a woman possess. Too much emphasis is put on looks instead of substance.

rIllinois Governor Blagojevich begs to keep job

By Andrew Stern and Michael Conlon

CHICAGO (Reuters) – Governor Rod Blagojevich, mired in scandal since he was charged with trying to sell the U.S. Senate seat once held by President Barack Obama, begged Illinois lawmakers on Thursday not to toss him out of office, saying he has had no chance to prove his innocence.

“How can you throw a governor out of office who is clamoring and begging and pleading with you to give him a chance to bring witnesses in to prove his innocence,” he told the state Senate which is acting as a jury and was poised to convict and remove him from office later in the day.

“Let me make my case,” he continued. “Let me show you that I’m innocent and that I didn’t do anything wrong.”

Taking the floor of the Senate at the state capitol in Springfield for the first time since the impeachment proceedings began, he made a passionate 11th hour plea for reconsideration, reviewing the charges against him one by one.

“A crime has not been proven here,” he said.

The four-day trial, however, had passed the time when he could have presented a defense and was headed for a swift conclusion with no sign of reversing course.

Blagojevich did not present a defense during the trial, saying the rules restricted him from calling the witnesses he needed or playing in full the federal government wiretapped conversations involving Obama’s Senate seat and other issues.

Before Blagojevich spoke, David Ellis, acting as prosecutor for the state house of Representatives which impeached the governor on 13 charges earlier this month, said he was guilty of widespread abuse of power, including those involving the Senate seat.

“The governor’s own words demonstrated, time and time again, that he saw his ability to appoint a U.S. senator as a golden goose, as a bargaining chip to be leveraged for his own personal and political well-being,” he said.

As the proceedings unfolded Democratic Lieutenant Governor Patrick Quinn was waiting in the wings to be sworn in, already expressing concern about the state’s budget ills about which he says he has been told all too little and an unemployment rate of 7.6 percent.

Blagojevich has denied doing anything wrong and has not been indicted. The counts on which he was impeached related to both the federal charges surrounding the sale of Obama’s former Senate seat to abuses of power that occurred during his six years as governor.

He has labeled the impeachment an act of political vengeance and part of an effort to raise taxes by the legislature with which he has been at odds during most of the time the former three-term U.S. congressman has held the state’s top job.

He maintained in a series of high profile media interviews earlier in the week that the impeachment trial rules did not allow either side to prove or disprove criminal charges against him. Witnesses and most of the recordings of FBI wiretaps that could shed light on the case were kept out at the request of prosecutors.

Case: You gotta like a man who stands up for himself and names other people such as senators McCain and Kennedy who the governor believes should be kicked from their jobs as well. If you have to go down, you may as well take others with you. Let’s see how this situation ends.

Update: Governor Rod Blagojevich has been removed from office and Lieutenant Governor Pat Quinn has been sworn in as the new governor of Illinois. I don’t believe we’ve heard the last from Rod Blagojevich.
